Rhyl's accommodation landscape reflects its history as a working-class seaside resort: plentiful bed-and-breakfast stock, a strong caravan and holiday park sector in the surrounding area, and a limited but improving hotel offer. If you want five-star luxury, you are in the wrong resort. If you want clean, affordable, well-located accommodation with the beach at the end of the street, Rhyl delivers.
Hotels
The most visible hotel in town is the Travelodge Rhyl on the promenade, built on the former Sun Centre site. It does what Travelodges do: consistent, affordable, no surprises. The location on West Parade is excellent — steps from the beach, close to SC2 and the Marine Lake.
Several seafront hotels remain in operation along East Parade, some offering sea views. Standards vary, and it is worth reading recent reviews before booking. The town has lost some of its larger historic hotels over the decades; what remains tends to be smaller operations.
Bed and Breakfast
Rhyl has a wide range of B&Bs, concentrated on the streets immediately behind the promenade. Quality ranges from excellent family-run guesthouses to establishments that are clearly operating on tight margins. Book through reputable platforms and pay attention to recent reviews. The best B&Bs in Rhyl offer genuinely warm, personal service at prices that major resort towns can't match.
Holiday Parks and Caravans
The areas immediately west of Rhyl — Kinmel Bay and Towyn — are dominated by large static caravan parks that have historically been an important part of the region's holiday accommodation offer. Some are large resort-style parks with pools, entertainment, and sports facilities; others are quieter. Many holiday lettings platforms list both static caravans and chalet accommodation across this area. It is not glamorous but it is affordable and families tend to find it works well.
Self-Catering
Holiday flats and self-catering apartments are available throughout the town, ranging from basic to comfortable. Booking platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO carry a reasonable selection. A self-catering base with kitchen facilities makes sense for longer stays and gives you flexibility around the variable quality of the eating-out scene.
Tips
Book early for school holidays — Rhyl's accommodation fills up faster than you might expect in July and August. If you are visiting for the Rhyl Airshow (usually June/July), book the moment the dates are announced. Off-season (October to March) accommodation is easy to find and prices are significantly lower; the town has a particular bleakly beautiful quality in winter that some visitors prefer.
